Lawyer appointed new Spanish consul to city

LIVERPOOL lawyer was appointed the new honorary consul of Spain.

Enrique Sanchez, whose offices are in Wavertree, has been based in the city for five years, offering advice and assistance on Spanish legal issues.

The honorary consul is an unpaid position, with the holder’s place of work or residence acting as the consulate.

Mr Sanchez said his appointment would help to improve relations between Liverpool and Spain.

He is a member of the Liverpool Law Society, the Granada Bar and the Liverpool Chamber of Commerce.

Mr Sanchez said: “It is a personal honour to represent Spain in Liverpool, a great city which has offered me and my family the warmest welcome. I look forward to working in collaboration with the local authorities to bring both cultures closer together, and representing Spanish nationals and their interests in the Merseyside area.”

He added: “Many of my clients are people who live in the UK but have financial or business interests in Spain.”

To mark his appointment, a celebratory lunch was held at Mr Sanchez’s offices in Church Road.
